We are on the final third of the calendar year, 2024! I'm still trying to find my groove with this retirement scenario, but I am really enjoying getting into the shop and repairing instruments. For the most part, the repairs are finished within a week and the teachers are finding the turn-around a bonus during the start ups to their programs. I'm subbing in the area schools - randomly - and like the fact that I can go in, follow a lesson plan, and leave. I don't have assessments to mark, concerts to plan, fundraising to address or the endless school meetings. It's a good transition from full-time teaching to full-time retirement.
Cape Breton BandFest!!
This year, I am honored to be one of three conductors for the Cape Breton BandFest! I will be working on music that is challenging for adult bands and fun to hear. The dates for the weekend are October 18, 19, & 20 - with a concert on the afternoon of the 20th. For more information or to register, contact Elizabeth Buffett: [email protected].
I will make a concerted effort to put into the calendar when I am away for subbing. Other than those days, I will be close to the shop to continue the repair side of the business. Peace --Maggie
