I am a Music Educator from Muncie, Indiana. I was a band director in the public schools in Indiana for 15 years and at Ball State University for 3 years. I have my Bachelor of Music and my Master of Arts, in conducting, from Ball State University. I am a member of the Nova Scotia Band Association, Canadian Band Association, Music Educator’s National Conference, and Women Band Director’s International Association. I am also a playing member of 14 Wing Brass and Reed Band, Bluesmobile, and several small ensembles in and around the Valley. I am a retired member of the Indiana Army National Guard Band, having served 23 years as an active member. In this unit, I was the Associate Conductor, rehearsal technician, Supply Sergeant, Clarinet Section Leader, squad leader and liaison with the Indiana State School Music Association. I also adjudicated for ISSMA, was the first female guest conductor at the Huntington College Honor Band Weekend, Huntington, Indiana; was a guest conductor for the Kokomo Park Band, Kokomo, Indiana; and was a guest conductor for the Indiana All-Region Junior High Band weekend, 1996. I was also the guest conductor for the Nova Scotia Junior Wind Ensemble and the New Brunswick Honour Band – both in 2005-06.
Since moving to Nova Scotia, I have been awarded the Nova Scotia Music Educator’s “Musica Viva” service award to Music Educators in Nova Scotia as well as the Nova Scotia Music Educators Lifetime Achievement Award. I was employed at Musicstop, Ltd. as the Educational Outreach Manager, responsible for giving band clinics, repair clinics, sectionals, and conducting seminars until fall of 2006. I was a long-term substitute at Leslie Thomas Junior High, a term teacher at Horton High School, and just recently retired as the Music Teacher and Director at Northeast Kings Education Centre, Canning, Nova Scotia. I also am the founding director of North Mountain Concert Band – a band for beginning and intermediate adult members of the community. I am the owner/operator of Atlantic Band Services where I offer clinics for private individuals and full ensembles and repairs instruments for schools and private customers throughout Nova Scotia
